Scrubby Gully Co Ltd is a proud part of that Central Otago landscape and embraces all that makes this place so unique.

Jo and James Robinson are the growers, pickers, bunchers, creators and sellers behind Scrubby Gully.

Jo is Dunedin born and raised, but in 1987 while living in Greece she dragged her English other half back to NZ. After initially settling in Auckland, in January 2000 the family moved to Central Otago and Scrubby Gully was born.

Originally the farm was planted with tulips, daffodils, peonies and pinot noir grapes but the focus is now on producing a wide variety of seasonal flowers.

Jo has studied horticulture, previously owned a landscaping business and is a qualified florist.
She plans the farm crops, gets the seedlings in the ground, keeps them growing, runs the workshops and does the marketing.

James brings endless patience to the mix plus an amazing amount of kiwi #8 wire ingenuity for an Englishman!
He can fix anything Jo breaks and adds a good dose of practicality to the ideas. While he claims to know nothing about flowers, he rules the roost when it comes to dealing with the irrigation and mowing (big jobs on an intensive 20 acre or 8 hectare farm).He can pick and bunch flowers with enthusiasm but avoids the weeding by fair means or foul!

What’s behind the name of the company? The company takes its name from Scrubby Gully Creek - the waterway that originally provided irrigation to the property. After all, there is no life without water, particularly in the dry, desert like climate of Central Otago.

When buying flowers from us, our customers know that they are getting locally grown, chemical free blooms...blooms that bring joy to those who give them and those that receive them.

Our seasonal flowers are available by the bloom, bunch, bouquet or bucket load.
